In order to ensure an enjoyable user experience, Meta provides the Messenger application, from time to time, with a set of updates that ensure more privacy.

Users of iOS devices can obtain a security feature to prevent intrusion by those around them and to ensure more security and privacy, as Messenger provides a lock feature that comes in the form of a facial recognition feature called Face ID.

This feature was previously available through the WhatsApp application, which is also owned by Meta.

Thanks to it, no one trying to use your phone will be able to browse your private messages on Facebook Messenger without your "faceprint".

To activate the feature, open the Messenger app, then tap the 3-line menu in the upper left, then tap the Settings icon.

Find Privacy & safety, tap App lock, and turn on Face ID.

Tap OK to confirm that you want to allow the Messenger app to use the Face ID feature, and select how long you want the feature to start working, where you can choose to lock the screen “after” you leave Messenger, or “one minute after” you leave the app, or “15 minutes after” departure, or “one hour after” departure.

This way no one has a chance to get into your messaging app.

It is important to note that you can still reply to incoming messages from notifications and answer calls while Messenger is locked.
