“He stood up for the country”: the parents of the contract soldier who died during the NWO brought humanitarian cargo to the front line

20-year-old contract soldier Sergei Korsakov was killed while performing combat missions in the Northern Military District in December.

On January 12, the fighter was buried on the Walk of Fame in his native Naberezhnye Chelny.

On February 15, Sergei's parents Maria and Vladimir Korsakov organized a collection of aid for the military on the front line, and then they themselves took humanitarian aid to the unit where their son served. 

“It was our initiative with my husband, relatives and friends joined in, Zhanna Khaliullina from United Russia helped a lot.

It turned out to collect a lot of things - the car was completely packed, things were still upstairs in the trunk-box.

They collected everything: cigarettes, and tactical backpacks - ten pieces, and gas cylinders for portable stoves, and food, ”recalls Sergey’s mother, Maria Korsakova.

Help colleagues

The mother of Sergei Korsakov told RT that she and her husband themselves took things to their son's colleagues.

The parents of the deceased soldier talked with his comrades-in-arms - an ensign and several other people were on the spot, the rest were on a mission.

Korsakov's colleagues told his mother that they tried to help her son when a shell fell next to him, but Sergei died almost instantly.

“He got hit from the Grad, and at the same time a mine exploded nearby.

Two trees fell on my son.

When a colleague crawled up to him - he himself was also shell-shocked - it was already too late.

The helmet was pierced in several places.

The entire right side of the son was completely in shrapnel wounds.

He died instantly,” says the contractor’s mother.

According to Maria Korsakova, Sergey's colleagues are very hard on what happened - her son was the only one who died in their group.

Several more people received contusions and are now being treated at the regional hospital in Togliatti.

“I saw some of the guys who are being treated here now - they say that after recovery they will go to the front line again, they are also contract soldiers,” the RT interlocutor explained.

The memory of the fallen soldier

Many mass media of Tatarstan wrote about the death of Sergei, the guy was well known in his native Naberezhnye Chelny - he was an activist in a local youth organization, was fond of sports.

The memory of Sergei was also honored at the Technical College.

On February 20, at the college where Sergey studied, a basketball tournament was held in his honor, which Sergey was fond of.

Another tournament in his honor is being prepared by the student organization "Forpost", in which the young man was a member.

“People here remember him - he was the first everywhere, he managed to participate in everything,” emphasizes the mother of the deceased contractor.

- He was engaged in basketball, volleyball, army hand-to-hand combat.

He had time to study and work - before the contract, Seryozha worked at the plant of spare parts and components of KAMAZ PJSC.

After the death of Sergei Korsakov, a memorial plaque was erected in his former workplace at the KAMAZ plant in memory of the young man.

Sergei's parents, his former colleagues and the management of the plant came to the rally on this occasion - they laid flowers at the memorial plaque and honored Korsakov's memory with a minute of silence.

“What Sergey did is important.

He defended our Motherland from impending fascism.

The war, which was launched back in 2014, claimed the lives of more than 160 children.

And Sergey went to the front so that there would be no such deaths in the future.

Thank you, Sergey, for everything,” Ildar Shamilov, chairman of the KAMAZ trade union committee, said at the rally.

“I wanted to connect my life with military service”

According to Maria Korsakova, Sergei knew that he would go to serve, even as a child.

An example for him was his father, a reserve lieutenant colonel who went through the Chechen war.

Vladimir Korsakov also served in the police, he now works as a lawyer in Naberezhnye Chelny.

“Seryozha has said since childhood that he wants to connect his life with military service.

His father worked in our Avtozavodsk Internal Affairs Directorate, and at first his son also thought about going to work in the internal affairs bodies following the example of his father, but then he decided to build a military career, ”said Korsakova.

After graduating from college, Sergei signed a contract and in July went to serve in Togliatti, from where he was sent to the front line to participate in a special military operation in Ukraine.

Korsakov's mother says that she and her husband were already providing assistance to military personnel - in October they raised money for volunteers who delivered humanitarian supplies to soldiers.

“Even when my son was there, he told my father and me what the military needs at the front, and we raised money, transferred it to a volunteer organization that goes there.

Then they bought thermal imagers, copters, walkie-talkies, night vision devices, ”recalls Maria Korsakova.

The parents of the deceased contractor stressed that they intend to continue to provide humanitarian assistance to servicemen in the NVO zone.
