Today, Saturday, the Court of Cassation upheld the imprisonment of Zamalek club president Mortada Mansour for a month on charges of insulting and slandering Al-Ahly club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib, and the court ruled to reject the appeals submitted by Mansour in a final ruling that became unappealable.

And according to what local media reported, the court received today a memorandum of the Public Prosecution Office, which included its legal opinion on the three appeals submitted by the president of Zamalek Club, regarding his imprisonment sentence, as the Public Prosecution Office recommended in its advisory report to reject the appeals and uphold the issued prison sentence.

After the verdict was issued, a security force transferred Mansour to prison to carry out the sentence imposed on him.

"Finally, the president of Al-Ahly club imprisoned the president of Zamalek club for the first time in the history of sports. The appeal was rejected, but we are awaiting the decision of the heavenly judge, God Almighty," said a statement posted on Mortada Mansour's Facebook account after the court session.

And the statement continued, “Do not worry about the lions, do not fear death, and also do not fear imprisonment. The plan was to overthrow me in the elections by fraud, and before that I was dismissed from the presidency of the club for 4 years, after which the board of directors was dissolved, and the fourth step was my imprisonment. This step was somewhat delayed.”

In April 2022, the Economic Misdemeanor Court ruled that the president of the Zamalek club be imprisoned for two years on charges of transgression, insult and defamation through the media against the president of Al-Ahly club, Mahmoud Al-Khatib.

The lawsuit papers included 12 video clips of Mortada Mansour, which contained insulting and slanderous phrases for Mahmoud Al-Khatib, his family, members of the Al-Ahly Club board of directors and its executive director.

After Mansour appealed against the ruling, the Appellate Economic Misdemeanor Court ruled on August 10, 2022, to amend Mansour’s prison sentence from one year to a month with work and enforcement, while upholding the sentence of one year in prison in the second case, with a stay of execution.

Mansour appealed against the rulings issued against him again before the Court of Cassation (its rulings are final and final and do not accept appeal), but the court rejected the appeals and upheld the prison sentence.
