“The decision to transfer any fighters outside Poland, any number of F-16s, is extremely serious and not at all easy for us,” he said.

Duda explained that Warsaw has less than 50 F-16 aircraft and the loss of even some of them would be a “serious problem” for the country.

The decision to send fighter jets to Ukraine should be a "joint decision by the allies" in NATO, the Polish leader added.

Earlier, the Russian ambassador to Warsaw, Sergei Andreev, said that about 90% of the supply of Western military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine passes through Poland.

Prime Minister of the Republic Mateusz Morawiecki said that Poland is ready to transfer fighter jets to Ukraine, but will not do it "in the forefront."
