A Ryanair plane lands safely in Greece after a bomb threat

The Ryanair plane landed safely in the Greek capital, Athens, after a bomb threat.

This came according to what was stated by the spokeswoman for Athens Airport, Elena Dempollo, to the German news agency, on Sunday evening.

"All the passengers are fine and safe," Dimbolo said, noting that special units of the Greek police searched the plane and the luggage.

The official Greek radio "ERT" reported that the plane had taken off from the Polish city of Katowice, heading to Athens, and added that the pilot of the plane announced during the flight that there was a bomb threat.

Fighter planes escorted the plane until its safe landing, and the other circumstances of the incident are still unknown.
