Yesterday, the Russian “Wagner” group announced its control of the city of Solidar in eastern Ukraine, after intense battles in recent days, which Kyiv immediately denied, while the Russian army announced the continuation of the battles, and the “Kremlin” stressed the need not to rush to declare victory.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that offensive units were fighting in the city, in addition to the air force.

The Kremlin seemed cautious about the situation on the ground, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, "Let's not rush, let's wait for official announcements," adding that there is a positive dynamic in the progress of Russian forces.

The Kremlin's statements came after the Wagner Group announced that its units launched an attack on Solidar, took full control of it, and published pictures of its members in the city's salt mines.

The Ukrainian army immediately denied this news, stressing that the city of Solidar is Ukrainian and will remain so, and indicated that it is not true that the head of the Wagner Group, Evgeny Prigozhin, is in Solidar.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his forces are withstanding new attacks in Solidar, and talked about a difficult situation in the Donetsk region, where the city is located.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is able to win the war if Western powers increase the supply of weapons, especially long-range missile systems.

And the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that its forces repelled, during the past 24 hours, Russian attacks near 13 residential areas, pointing out that the Russian forces launched six missile attacks, 16 air raids, and carried out more than 50 attacks using multiple launch missile systems (ML). .rs), which targeted civilian infrastructure in the regions of «Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson».

The General Staff added that the threat of missile attacks and Russian air strikes continues in various parts of Ukraine.

On the other hand, the authority stated that, during the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 14 attacks on groups of the Russian army, which included four attacks on sites of the air defense system, and units of the Ukrainian armed forces bombed three command posts and eight groups of Russian forces with missiles and artillery.

In addition, Russian bombing targeted the city of Kharkiv, yesterday evening, after a surprise visit by the German Foreign Minister, Analina Berbock, to this city in northeastern Ukraine.

"A fireworks depot was hit and a large-scale fire broke out, and pyrotechnic products exploded during the night," said the region's governor, Oleg Sinigubov, via "Telegram", indicating that there were no casualties.

Berbock, who visited the city with her Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, said that Berlin had provided a new package of aid to Kiev, including 20 million euros for mine clearance and the development of the Starlink Internet. It also announced the supply of additional generators to support Ukrainian energy facilities that were bombed by Russia.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that his country will buy a "NASAMS" air defense system from the United States as a gift to Ukraine.

This defense system aims to counter the heavy Russian bombardment targeting vital infrastructure in Ukraine.

This missile system is in addition to armored vehicles, howitzers, winter clothes, and ammunition previously provided by Canada to Ukraine to help it confront Russia.
