Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson earned over £1m from four speeches between October and November.

This is according to the latest data from the Register of Financial Matters of Members of Parliament.

As an MP, Johnson must declare income in addition to his parliamentary work and the hours spent on it.

The Tory politician has therefore come to an hourly wage of around £30,000.

Johnson spoke to bankers and insurance companies in the United States and at a conference organized by American television network CNN.

Johnson received £277,724 just for a speech in New York for the finance company Centerview Partners.

The American company that had booked Johnson for nine hours paid for the trip to the USA and for two companions.

Johnson resigned as Prime Minister in early September following a series of scandals, but he remains a Conservative MP in London's House of Commons.

After the resignation of his successor Liz Truss after just a few weeks in office, Johnson briefly attempted a spectacular political comeback in October.

However, Conservative MPs backed former finance minister and current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak instead.
