Earlier, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte allowed the introduction of a nationwide state of emergency due to protests taking place in the country after the removal of Pedro Castillo from the presidency.

On December 8, the Lima police dispersed demonstrations by supporters of the former President of Peru, Pedro Castillo.

Protests began after he was removed from power.
