Today, Sunday, the Russian army launched air and missile strikes on areas in Ukraine, while the port of Odessa stopped working and battles raged between the two sides on many fronts.

While the Ukrainian and French presidents discussed preparations for two conferences in Paris to support Kiev, the Turkish and Russian presidents discussed grain, gas and other commodities export files.

The Ukrainian army said that during the past hours, Russian forces carried out 17 air strikes and more than 60 missile attacks on Ukrainian regions.

While the Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that the bombing coincided with the continued interruption of electricity and water to large parts of Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odessa.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 1.5 million Ukrainians are without electricity in and around Odessa.

The Ukrainian Southern Operations Command spoke about the escalation of mutual shelling along the banks of the Dnipro River in Kherson, noting that its forces repelled Russian attacks in a number of Luhansk regions and prevented the advance of Russian forces towards the city of Bakhmut.

In Zaporizhia, the pro-Russian governor of the province, Yevgeny Balteksi, announced that 10 people were killed and 3 wounded in the Ukrainian bombing of HIMARS missiles targeting areas in the city of Melitopol.

The governor of Zaporizhia added that one of the missiles hit a tourist resort, which led to the outbreak of fire, as firefighting teams are trying to control the fire and evacuate some people trapped under the rubble.

The authorities expect the death toll to rise.

Other developments

Yesterday, Saturday, the Ukrainian forces intensively targeted the regions of Melitopol and Energadar.

Media also reported monitoring the flight of Ukrainian drones over the region.

And the Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that the city center was subjected to Ukrainian shelling this morning, which caused damage to the infrastructure and some facilities.

The pro-Russian authorities said that the bombing, during the past hours, killed one person and wounded 3 others.

The Russian forces confirmed that their units repelled attacks by Ukrainian forces south of Donetsk, and made progress towards new areas at the Krasny Limansk axis.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that artillery destroyed Ukrainian Grad missile launchers that were stationed near Seversk, north of Bakhmut.


Ports and grain

In a related context, Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture Mykola Solsky said that the port of Odessa stopped working today, Sunday, after the latest Russian attack on the energy network in the region, but he added that grain traders are not expected to suspend exports.

He stated that the ports of Chornomorsk and Pivdenny, through which grain is allowed to be exported from Ukraine under an agreement with Russia, are partially operational.

On Sunday, the Turkish and Russian presidents talked about grain supplies and a potential gas hub in Turkey.

The Turkish presidency said today, Sunday, that "President Erdogan expressed his sincere hope that the Russian-Ukrainian war will end as soon as possible."

Erdogan said that Ankara and Moscow could start work on exporting other food products and basic commodities through the grain corridor in the Black Sea.

The Kremlin indicated that the two presidents also discussed an initiative to establish a base in Turkey for Russian natural gas exports.

"The special importance of joint energy projects, primarily in the gas sector, was emphasized," the Kremlin said.

Two conferences in Paris

In the same context, French President Emmanuel Macron discussed by phone with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky preparations for a new conference in support of Ukraine to be held on Tuesday in Paris, according to the two presidents.

And the French President wrote on Twitter, "With President Zelensky, we prepared for the two conferences that France will host on Tuesday: the first is international to meet Ukraine's needs during the winter, and the second is with French companies that are involved in the reconstruction of the country."

For his part, the Ukrainian president said in a tweet, "We coordinated our positions before a virtual summit with the Group of Seven and a support conference in Paris. We discussed the implementation of our peace plan, which includes 10 points, cooperation in the field of defense and the stability of the energy sector."
