Erdogan announces his candidacy for the Turkish elections for the last time next year

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that his election campaign next year for the country's presidency will be his last as a candidate for the position.

Speaking in the northern Turkish city of Samsun, Erdogan, 68, said he would seek the nation's support "one last time" before handing over power to younger politicians.

The Turkish president relies on the success of the conservative Islamic Justice and Development Party in the parliamentary and presidential elections scheduled for next June.
