It was the summer of almost three years ago that Gunila Axén received a call at night.

The man on the other end claimed to be a police officer, and said that one of her sons had been involved in a traffic accident.

In order for Gunilla to find out what happened and how her son is doing, she must identify herself with BankID.

- I thought that you identify yourself all the time, this can't be that dangerous, she says.

Lotta Mauritzson is a crime prevention officer at the police's national fraud centre.

She says that many of the fraudsters can be linked to known criminal networks.

- It is an important source of income for them.

It contributes to other crime and that they can live a luxurious life, she says.

Hear Gunila Axén tell about the fraud in the clip above.
