The Local Police of Móstoles (Madrid) has arrested the driver of the vehicle that this Thursday night hit the car in which a mother and her 12-year-old daughter were traveling, both of whom died in the accident, municipal sources have informed EFE.

Another nine-year-old daughter of the driver was traveling in the vehicle, who is in serious condition.

The victims returned from celebrating the birthday of a friend of hers.

The arrested man is accused of a crime against road safety and has been transferred to the local National Police Station, and it is expected that this Friday he will go to court, according to sources.

Along with the two fatalities, who died of multiple injuries, another nine-year-old daughter of the driver was traveling, who was transferred by Summa 112 in a potentially serious condition to the 12 de Octubre Hospital in the capital, where she remains hospitalized.

The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on Avenida de Extremadura, at the intersection with Río Ebro street, where a vehicle hit another from the front side.

The victims' car was displaced almost 40 meters.

Several witnesses indicated that the woman left a parking lot and turned left and that at that moment she was hit by the other car that was going at high speed.

The three occupants of the car were

rescued from inside the vehicle by the Madrid Community firefighters,

as reported by Emergencies 112. Two people were traveling in the other vehicle involved, the arrested driver and a companion, who were unharmed.

The mayoress of Móstoles, Noelia Posse (PSOE), has written a tweet regretting and feeling the death of the two residents of the town.
