• 6:01 am: UN launches record appeal for humanitarian aid, boosted by Ukraine

The UN on Thursday launched a record appeal for funds for 2023 in the face of soaring humanitarian needs, driven by the conflict in Ukraine and the effects of climate change, such as the risk of famine in Africa.

United Nations humanitarian agencies will need 51.5 billion US dollars (49.6 billion euros) next year, needs up by 25%.

These funds will allow them to finance their programs to help 230 million of the most vulnerable people in 68 countries.

  • 1:12 a.m.: Assembly condemns Russia’s “crime of aggression”

The National Assembly affirmed its "fullest support" for kyiv and condemned Russia's "crime of aggression" against Ukraine, in a resolution adopted by a large majority.

Submitted by the groups of the presidential majority, on the initiative of Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade (Renaissance), the text calls for "a zone of protection around the nuclear power plant of Zaporijjia", the largest in Europe, and affirms the the Assembly's "fullest support" to "Ukraine, its people, its sovereignty and its territorial integrity".
