Almost two million Haitians are on the verge of famine, according to the government. The humanitarian response plan coordinated by the UN plans to devote half of the budget to food security. Another priority: financing aid for internally displaced people – more than 346,000 people – and protecting women victims of rape and violence. The UN, in coordination with the government, launched an appeal for donations.
