An earthquake measuring approximately 6 on the Richter scale struck, at dawn today, Wednesday, the state of Duzce, northwestern Turkey, and there were no reports of casualties.

The Turkish Emergency and Disaster Management said that the earthquake occurred shortly after 4:00 am local time in the Gul Yaqa district of Duzce, which is located to the east of Istanbul.

Residents of Istanbul and neighboring states felt the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of about 7 kilometers underground, according to the Emergency and Disaster Management Department, which stated that it had a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale, while the European Mediterranean Earthquake Center reported that it was of a magnitude of 6 and occurred at a depth of two kilometers.

And the Anatolia news agency said that no official data was immediately issued about recording losses due to the strong earthquake in Duzce.

And in late October 2020, an earthquake measuring 6.6 degrees on the Richter scale struck the state of Izmir (western Turkey), killing dozens, injuring hundreds, and damaging residential buildings.
