On the 23rd, the Democratic Party of Korea said in relation to the KBS report that the prosecution was investigating the source of the billion-dollar cash that CEO Lee Jae-myeong kept at his home in June of last year ahead of the presidential election, "Processing 270 million won, including election deposits and primary office leases. To do so, I deposited the cash I had at the time into the Provincial Government Nonghyup account, which I usually do business with.”



On the afternoon of the 23rd, the Democratic Party announced this through the statement of the Public Information Bureau, saying, "CEO Lee withdrew 150 million won from the Nonghyup bank account in his name on March 20, 2019 and 50 million won on October 25 of the same year, respectively. In March 2012, I had the cash as a condolence money for my mother,” he said.



"The facts of the cash holdings, including the fact of such changes in deposits, are specified in the 2020 and 2021 property reports of public officials," he emphasized.



The Democratic Party said, "The prosecution's suspicion that (the cash) was money received from the Daejang-dong gang is impossible to establish, and it is just a malicious argument to damage the reputation of CEO Lee."
