According to Sandu, the sanctions imposed by Washington are not enough to reduce the ability of the Moldovan opposition to "destabilize the situation" in the country.

“Therefore, I call on our partners on this platform, including the EU and its member states, to impose sanctions against high-profile corrupt criminals who not only steal public funds, but also directly threaten stability and democracy,” TASS quoted her as saying.

In October, the leader of the Moldovan opposition party Shor, Ilan Shor, was put on the US sanctions list.

After that, the Commission for Emergency Situations of the Government of Moldova approved amendments that will implement the US decisions into local laws, which will allow freezing the accounts of sanctioned persons in Moldova as well.
