Two Iranian players involved in the World Cup in Qatar have sent condolences to the families of the victims and expressed solidarity with the heavily repressed protest movement that has rocked the Islamic Republic for two months.

"I would like to send my condolences to the families who have lost loved ones in recent events and I would like them to know that we stand by them," substitute goalkeeper Hossein Hosseini said at a news conference in Doha two days before the kick-off. Iran in the tournament, will play England in Group B on Monday.

Forward Vahid Amiri, who plays in the Iranian league like Hosseini, also expressed "sympathy to the families who have lost loved ones".

Below are the images of their Instagram accounts, their profile photo is the black of mourning.

Sardar Azmoun, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, had already spoken on Instagram where he has over 5 million followers: "A pain in the heart of the national team that history will never forget".

And he continues to publish solidarity posts (like the one shown below) despite having declared on several occasions that he has been pressured to stop exposing himself.

On September 27,

the entire team wore a black jacket

in mourning before the match against Senegal.

And on October 10 against Nicaragua almost everyone was silent during the anthem.
