He allegedly
stabbed
his 88-year-old mother in the stomach at home, and then committed suicide by cutting his throat in a warehouse near the old woman's home in Pellagai di Mel, in the province of Belluno.
Aurelio Monastier aged 56, married and with two children, and his mother Antonia Sciocchet would have been seen in the morning as they took their
usual walk
through the streets of the town.
Then nothing more.
The bodies were discovered by the
woman's daughter
, who lives nearby and who would have been alarmed by not hearing from them.
The old woman lived alone and was cared for by an assistant.
The Carabinieri, who intervened on the spot, are proceeding with the findings of the case.
They are currently ruling out third party participation and are investigating the motive for what appears to be a
murder-suicide
