The Diocese of Limburg has appointed a successor to Regens, who died in June.

The 43-year-old pastor of St. Martin in the Idsteiner Land, Kirsten Brast, took over the new office on November 1st in addition to his work in the community and will remain district dean in the Lower Taunus for the time being.

Brast's predecessor, Christoph May, was found dead in June.

The day before he had been released from all offices by Bishop Georg Bätzing because several people had accused him of abusive behavior.

The diocese has now announced that the examination of the allegations was continued after the suicide.

"The allegations of abusive behavior have been substantiated." The reports would have had disciplinary consequences for May, it said.

"As things stand at present, the allegations would not have been relevant under criminal law." Those responsible are in talks with those affected and have also contacted the priest's previous communities.

May, popular in reform circles, was responsible for training priests.

According to the diocese, the tasks of the rain will be re-tailored.

He will no longer head the personnel training department or the seminary as a conference venue.

Brast is to take care of the selection, monitoring and assessment of candidates for the priesthood and chaplains in the Diocese of Limburg.
