Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on the 3rd (local time) that Ukraine would not attend if Russian President Vladimir Putin attends the G20 summit.

According to AFP and TASS news agency, President Zelensky said at a press conference after the summit with Greek President Katerina Sakelaropulu in Kiiu on the same day, "Ukraine is preparing to participate in the G20 summit."

In addition, President Zelensky spoke on the phone with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, the chair of the G20 summit, to discuss the event.

The G20 summit is scheduled to be held in Bali, Indonesia from the 15th to the 16th of this month, and President Zelensky said that he received an invitation from President Widodo in April.

President Putin was also invited, but Ukraine has insisted that Russia be expelled from all international organizations, including the G20, after dozens of civilians were killed in a massive Russian airstrike last month.

President Putin has not yet confirmed whether he will attend, but the atmosphere is more weighted on the side.

On the 27th of last month, he said, "Russia will surely send a high-level representative to this meeting. Maybe I can go. I'm still thinking."

In a phone conversation with President Widodo the day before, he said, "Russia highly appreciates Indonesia's role as a constructive and non-political chairperson in relation to many global challenges."

On the same day, President Widodo said that so far, the heads of 17 countries have notified the meeting, and the heads of three countries have not yet confirmed whether to attend.

The identity of the three people has not been disclosed, but local media speculate that they may be President Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, who recently confirmed a third consecutive term, and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who failed re-election.
