Yemen..Houthi militias begin a new evasion to thwart settlement efforts

The terrorist Houthi militia continued its rejection of all local, regional and international calls to enter into a comprehensive political settlement in preparation for peace, as well as its refusal to extend and expand the truce.

In this regard, the Jordanian capital, Amman, hosted a joint meeting with the participation of the European Union Ambassador to Yemen Gabriel Monoera Vinales, and the European Working Group, with UN envoy Hans Grundberg, to discuss efforts to renew the armistice and restore the path of a political settlement in Yemen.

This comes with the continuation of side consultations between the Yemeni parties in the Omani capital, Muscat, regarding a return to extending the armistice. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed his country's regret for not renewing it, and affirmed Egypt's aspiration to restore a political solution that ends the conflict in Yemen.

For its part, the militias issued a statement through its foreign ministry, which is not recognized internationally, calling on the UN Security Council to work on issuing a new binding resolution that would prepare the atmosphere for the start of negotiations for a peaceful political settlement to reach a comprehensive peace in Yemen.

The militia statement contradicted the statements of Houthi leader Hussein Al-Azi, appointed as Deputy Foreign Minister of the unrecognized Sanaa government, in which he said that the international envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, cannot conduct any peace negotiations in Yemen.

Yemeni political sources described the militias' statement as a message of approval for any future peace consultations after they found themselves isolated internationally, and on the way to classifying them as a terrorist group, noting that the militias, through their statement, begin a new political maneuver in order to have time to rearrange their positions and papers. In Al-Jawf, the Dahm and Bakil tribes continued to flock to the governorate’s battlefields, to support the Yemeni army forces, which are making great combat arrangements, in preparation for securing the eastern and northeastern regions of the governorate, leading to the restoration of the city of Al-Hazm, the capital of Al-Jawf.

Tribal sources stated that a large influx of tribesmen has continued for three days to the landfills of the "Al-Rayyan" region, east of Al-Jawf, as part of the mobilization announced by the tribes in Al-Jawf to secure the "Al-Alam and Al-Rayyan" desert areas, east of the province, from the terrorist Houthi militia, which is harassing the people. tribes in those areas.

According to the sources, the militias are seeking, through their presence in the Al-Rayyan desert, to reach the "Rawik and Safer oil" areas in the Marib governorate, but the tribes are seeking to support the army forces to thwart the militias' plans in that area.

In Arhab, north of the capital, Sanaa, clashes and tensions continued between tribesmen and Houthi militia members for the fourth day of communication against the backdrop of the latter's attempt to loot and confiscate tribal lands in several areas of the district.

Tribal sources said that the recent clashes between the two sides resulted in the killing and wounding of 15 Houthis, as well as the destruction of 3 Houthi combat mechanisms, while sending fighters to the district continued.

Tribal mediation failed to stop the confrontations between the two sides in Arhab, after the Houthi leader Abu Ali al-Hakim, who survived a Houthi assassination attempt in the area between Arhab and the outskirts of the capital, Sanaa, was shot to the north.

On the other hand, the militias announced the loss of about 5,000 of their fighters on various battlefronts, since the beginning of the war, while the burial of the bodies of their dead continued in mass graves in the vicinity of Sanaa.
