Student associations in Iranian universities said that the Faculty of Engineering at Tehran University witnessed a gathering of students in which they declared their solidarity with the victims of the unrest in Zahedan on Friday and the Shiraz attack last Wednesday.

The demonstrators raised slogans accusing the Iranian government of being behind the Shiraz attack, and also demanded the release of detained students.

Similar protest rallies were held at Khaja Nasir University of Technology, Amir Kabir University of Technology, Science and Investigation, University of Science and Culture, University of Architecture and Art, Allameh Tabatabai University, and University of Science and Industry in Tehran.

Among the accused is Muhammad Qabadlo, who is being tried for “corrupting the land” for “attacking police officers with a car, and the attack resulted in the death of an officer and the injury of 5 others.” Saeed Shirazi was also charged with a similar charge for “inciting the people to commit crimes,” and Saman Sidi and Muhammad Brugni and Mohsen Rezazadeh are charged with "enmity of war", a charge that can carry a death sentence under Iranian law.

The judiciary had announced the indictment of more than a thousand people across the country in cases related to the protests that followed the death of the girl, Mahsa Amini.
