President Yoon Seok-yeol is moving to the situation room of the Gwanghwamun Government Complex in Seoul, where Prime Minister Han Deok-soo and others are waiting in connection with the 'Itaewon Halloween' crushing tragedy on the 30th, the presidential office said.
The spokesperson's office said this in a press notice at 2:29 am today (30th).
Prior to this, President Yoon presided over an emergency situation inspection meeting at the crisis management center of the presidential office in Yongsan, and issued traffic control orders for patient transport and relief.
Last night, in the area of Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, there was a large-scale crushing disaster as at least tens of thousands of people gathered ahead of Halloween.
As of 2 am, the fire department counted 59 people dead and 150 injured in the crushing accident.
