A dozen activists from the environmental movement "Last renovation" blocked the A6a motorway early Friday evening at Arcueil in Val-de-Marne, south of Paris, causing heavy traffic jams, noted a journalist from the AFP.

The purpose of this action of "civil disobedience", which lasted about half an hour, is to "force the government to adopt an ambitious plan for the thermal renovation of buildings by 2040, a first step towards a significant reduction in carbon emissions of France", according to a press release sent to AFP.

Around 6 p.m., a dozen activists sat on the ground on the A6a motorway near Paris, with the “Last renovation” banner blocking the passage of cars and creating moments of tension with motorists, who were sometimes violent.

The police began to intervene around 6:30 p.m. and the action ended ten minutes later, AFP was able to verify.

Actions of "disobedience" at Roland-Garros

"Today we only have 880 days left if we want to maintain a livable world. So that's why I'm here! (...) I'm sorry to block these people, I have no pleasure in being here" , said Rachel, 20, who did not want to reveal her name.

The activists said they wanted to be part of the context of "social discontent" and multiply actions of civil disobedience in the coming weeks.

The collective has already carried out actions of "disobedience" since the spring at the Roland-Garros tennis tournament, then by interrupting the Tour de France cyclist and blocking the Paris ring road.

Six activists will be tried on November 22 in Auch (Gers) on the charge of "obstructing the circulation of vehicles" on the Tour de France.

On October 16, an activist of the movement also burst onto the lawn of the Parc des Princes in Paris during the Classico PSG-OM.

"After having tried everything to make our political leaders listen to reason (...), non-violent civil resistance is our best chance of obtaining real change", still believes the collective.
