On her first foreign visit, the Italian Prime Minister participates in the Climate Summit in Egypt

The Italian Prime Minister, Georgia Meloni, announced today, Friday, her intention to participate in the United Nations Climate Summit to be held next month in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The Italian news agency "Nova" quoted statements issued by the Italian Cabinet today, saying: "Miloni will travel to Sharm El-Sheikh from November 7 to 8, where she will participate in the summit of heads of state and government in COP27, which Egypt chairs this year, in Her first foreign trip since she took over as prime minister of Italy on October 21.

Nova said Meloni is scheduled to participate in the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, from November 15-16.

On October 22, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi invited Meloni, in a congratulatory message to her assuming the presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers, to attend the COP27 summit.

In a letter addressed to Meloni, Sisi said: "I am confident that the friendly Italian Republic can play a positive and constructive role during the 27th session of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change. I look forward to working to strengthen the Egyptian-Italian bilateral relations within the framework of the solid partnership that unites Egypt and Italy in all fields.

In response to President Sisi's message, Meloni affirmed Italy's determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Egypt "on critical issues such as energy security, the environment and human rights."

"We care about the stability of the Mediterranean and the Middle East and are determined to strengthen our bilateral cooperation on critical issues such as energy security, environment and human rights," she tweeted on her official Twitter account.
