The Iranian news agency said that the perpetrator of the Shiraz attack died of the wounds he sustained after the security forces confronted him, while the governor of Shiraz announced the arrest of a person in connection with the attack that occurred last Wednesday and targeted a religious shrine in the city.

The attack killed 15 people and wounded 19 others, and the Islamic State claimed responsibility for it. The organization's Amaq News Agency said on its Telegram account that a "fighter from the Islamic State" carried out the attack.

On the other hand, the Iranian news agency denied that the attacker was a Bahraini, after previous reports about it.

For its part, the Iranian Mehr news agency reported that the intelligence of the Revolutionary Guards managed to defuse a bomb in one of the main streets in the city of Shiraz.

Meanwhile, in the capital, Tehran, and several Iranian cities, demonstrations took place to condemn the attack, and the participants denounced what they called the riots in the country. They also raised slogans against what they described as terrorism and its supporters, and chanted slogans against the United States, Israel and Britain.
