The legendary rock 'n' roll interpreter Jerry Lee Lewis is dead. The pianist, known among other things for the classic "Great Balls of Fire", died at the age of 87, as his agent announced on Friday.

Born in Ferriday, Louisiana, in 1935, Lewis is considered one of the pioneers of rock 'n' roll.

The blonde musician was a friend and at the same time a competitor of Elvis Presley.

In his more than fifty-year career, he not only created numerous hits, but also regularly made headlines with his wild lifestyle with many women, excessive alcohol consumption and tax disputes.
