On Sunday, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi challenged former President Donald Trump to testify before a special committee investigating his role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.

Pelosi said - in an interview with "MSNBC" - that President Trump "is too cowardly to implement a subpoena from Congress compelling him to testify in the facts of the Capitol attack."

"I don't think he's man enough to show up, I don't think lawyers will want him because he has to testify under oath," she said. "We'll see if he's man enough to show up."

On Friday, the select committee announced that it had issued a subpoena to Trump, giving him until November 4 to provide a raft of documents relating to his activities before and after the deadly attack by the former president's supporters.

The committee also told Trump that it wanted him to appear to testify on or around November 14.

The attack on the Capitol occurred when Trump supporters tried to prevent Congress from formally certifying the victory of Democratic challenger Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
