It is about the January 6 Committee, which is investigating the storming of the Capitol in January 2021. Steve Bannon, the man behind the website Infowars, was called as a witness but did not appear.
He was later charged with an offense amounting to contempt of court.
Bannon is allowed to be free pending a possible appeal, writes the AP news agency.
He is also ordered to pay a $6,500 fine.
