As a reminder, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22, the member states of ECOWAS met in an extraordinary summit without Guinea.
They had given the transitional authorities one month to present a reasonable and acceptable timetable, failing which severe sanctions would be imposed on Guinea, which until then had proposed a 36-month transition, rejected by ECOWAS.
The organization had already suspended all assistance and financial transactions with Guinea and announced the freezing of financial assets and a travel ban in the ECOWAS area for certain personalities.
It is undoubtedly to avoid new sanctions that Conakry has changed its tune.
