The American actor Ron Masak, the actor who played Mort Metzger, the sheriff of Cabot Cove, leaves at the age of 86.

Born in Chicago, full name Ronald Alan Masak, he made his debut in 1960 in an episode of the series "At the Edge of Reality" and then appeared in hit series such as "Bewitched", "Get Smart", "Witch for Love" .

Between 1973 and 1978 he was one of the main characters of the telefilm "On the streets of California" and then appeared in episodes of "My Friend Arnold". 

He lands on "Murder, She Wrote" (in Italy it was distributed under the title "The Lady in Yellow") in the fifth season, after the previous Cabot Cove sheriff, Amos Tupper (played by Tom Bosley), had left Maine for move in with her sister in Kentucky.

His character - who in turn had left the NYPD in search of a quieter working life in the north - drove around town in a red 1976 Cadillac Eldorado. He played the role of Sheriff Metzger until 1996. alongside Angela Lansbury.
