Former ambassador to the EU Chizhov: NATO's physical stockpiles of weapons are coming to an end

And NATO has a different problem - the physical stocks of weapons are coming to an end, ”Chyzhov answered the question about a possible reduction in Western assistance to Ukraine.

He recalled that at the beginning of the conflict, military experts reported that the stock of US artillery shells was designed for several weeks of active hostilities.

“Yes, the alliance figured out how to solve the problem of the old Soviet weapons left by the Eastern European member countries.

But it has long since ended.

And what to do is not entirely clear, ”concluded Chizhov.

Earlier, EU foreign ministers approved €500 million in aid to Kyiv and a training mission for the Ukrainian military.

In addition, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the allocation of another macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €2 billion.

As the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova noted, the creation of the EU mission for military assistance to Ukraine turns it into the side of the conflict.
