Abdullah bin Zayed: The current and future phases focus on developing students' scientific skills

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, chaired the council's meeting, which was held via remote visual communication technology.

During the meeting, His Highness expressed his confidence in all educational authorities and institutions in the country to work closely together during the coming period to achieve the aspirations of the leadership and national goals in the education sector, in the interest of the student first, contribute to enhancing the quality of educational outcomes, and meet our development, economic and social needs.

He said that the focus in the current and future phases will be on empowering the student's capabilities and characteristics, by developing his scientific and practical skills, consolidating his national identity, and enhancing his thought, awareness and openness to the world.

His Highness called for the necessity of integrating the efforts of all educational bodies, institutions and individuals, including leading and educational cadres, parents and society as a whole, in strengthening the educational system to build generations pioneering in their thought, knowledge, morals and skills, contributing to building the future of their homeland and the world around them.

He also stressed the importance of enhancing the educational experience of students at all levels, including those on scholarships outside the country, to enable them, after graduation, to contribute effectively to society and the labor market, by promoting close cooperation between agencies and institutions inside and outside the country in the interest of the student.

His Highness praised the "Step" program to send Emirati students to study in American and Canadian community colleges and international universities, which was launched by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, stressing that this program Contributes to preparing future generations and providing them with modern skills and knowledge to qualify them optimally to promote sustainable development paths in all sectors and support the growth and development of the knowledge-based national economy.

For her part, Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, Chairwoman of the Emirates School Education Foundation, reviewed the work plan of the career development project for workers in the public education sector.

She pointed out that the institution seeks to link internships with clear cumulative competencies, skills and experiences for all major and supportive educational jobs, in addition to detailing stimulating and rewarding career paths for workers in the sector and encouraging graduates to choose the teaching profession.

The council also reviewed, within its agenda, the developments of the strategic policies of Zayed University, the Higher Colleges of Technology and the United Arab Emirates University, and the efforts of universities to enhance the educational experience of students, through systems and programs that support their competitiveness, enhance their thought and culture, and enable them to contribute to the labor market.

The Minister of Culture and Youth, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Zayed University, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, confirmed that Zayed University has begun to implement internal policies and systems that have enhanced the students' experience to ensure the continuation of their educational journey at the university to the fullest, provided that the outcomes of the application of those systems are measured by academics and specialists. And the impact it had on the various axes and parties of the educational process.

For his part, the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Head of the Higher Colleges of Technology Complex, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmanan Al-Awar, confirmed that the colleges sensed an interaction from the community, according to a questionnaire conducted by a large segment of students and parents, the results of which concluded that the colleges’ efforts to provide an advanced and incubating educational environment for students are aimed at In the right direction towards strengthening the education system in the country.

For her part, Sarah Awad Issa Muslim, Minister of State for Early Education and Head of the Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi, reviewed the developments of the "Step" program, which was recently launched by the department, stressing that the program is an important investment in the future of generations.

She pointed out that the program supports a new category of Emirati students who were unable to join the programs of foreign scholarships previously.
