This is stated in a written statement by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre following the meetings of American leader Joe Biden with relatives of Greiner and Whelan.

"The President held these meetings to reaffirm his continued commitment to use all available means to safely return Brittney and Paul home," the release said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced his readiness to discuss the exchange of prisoners with the United States, but only through a special channel approved by the presidents of states.

In addition, Lavrov, in a conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, called on Washington to return to "quiet diplomacy" on the issue of a possible exchange of imprisoned citizens of Russia and the United States.
