An elderly couple in Karlstad was exposed to a fraud on Thursday evening.

The couple received a call from someone who stated that there was an attempted fraud against the couple's bank accounts, but at the same time said they could help them prevent this.

Later, the couple were visited by two men in a small white car, one of whom entered the residence.

When the man left, he had taken bank details, valuables and other valuable information with him.

Great police effort

- We have a large police operation underway and have certain leads, says Lars Hedelin, the police's press communicator.

The police are now mainly warning older people against frauds of this kind.

- Banks and authorities never call and request information or ask someone to log in with a bank ID in this way, says Lars Hedelin to SVT Värmland.

It is currently unclear how much money the elderly couple lost.
