Today, Thursday, Tunisian President Kais Saied announced that the draft legislative elections decree, scheduled for December 17, is ready.

At the opening of the cabinet meeting at the Carthage Palace in Tunis, Said said that the draft decree for the elections scheduled for December 17th is ready, as well as placing an order to call voters for the elections on the specified date.

"The covenant is the covenant," he added, referring to the date of the legislative elections.

The opposition National Salvation Front announced, earlier, that it had decided to boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The National Salvation Front, which led protest rallies in rejection of the exceptional measures that Said began to take since July 25, 2021, also boycotted the popular referendum on the new constitution on July 25, which greatly enhanced the president's powers.

The Front and other parties accuse President Saeed of establishing an individual rule, while he says that he is working to correct the course of the revolution and combat corruption in state institutions.
