1000 emergency reports to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from citizens abroad

During the travel season, including the months of July and August, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation dealt with more than 1,000 emergency reports for citizens of the country abroad, as it responded to the reports as soon as they were received through the emergency line at the number 0097180024.

Out of keenness to assess the citizen’s satisfaction with responding to his emergency report, the quality and performance control team in the Foreign Ministry’s Emergency Department communicated with citizens, after closing their complaints, to check on them and measure their satisfaction with the service provided.

The quality of performance is also monitored through indicators that ensure speedy implementation and response to communications, and evaluated according to specific criteria to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the performance of the teams concerned to respond and deal with emergency communications.

The Director of the Citizens Affairs Department, Abdulaziz Talib Al-Habsi, stressed the ministry's keenness to adopt innovative solutions and employ the best systems to enhance the speed of response to emergency communications.

He also confirmed that "the ministry carried out eight medical evacuations of critical medical cases to the country within a record time, as they were dealt with, and their return was coordinated, in cooperation with the health authorities in the country."

He added that "the ministry has prepared qualified work teams to deal with various types of emergency communications with speed and efficiency that serve the citizens of the country abroad, and meet their expectations," stressing that "the ministry's teams work around the clock to respond to emergency communications, and follow up the progress of work according to an integrated and unified plan, to ensure receipt of Reports and their arrival to the concerned teams as soon as possible.

The reports received by the ministry through the emergency line designated for citizens of the country abroad included several reports, most notably health reports, reports of thefts, and other emergency reports.

It is worth noting that 35% of the reports were moderate medical cases for citizens outside the country.

The Ministry stressed the importance of obtaining adequate health insurance before travelling, and carrying a sufficient amount of medication for the traveler for a period sufficient for departure and return.

As for the reports of theft, the rate reached 28%.

The ministry provided the traveler with a set of important advice, most notably keeping the personal wallet in a safe place, and avoiding displaying large amounts of cash in public places.

She also advised the use of credit cards, and avoiding the use or wearing of expensive jewelry that attracts attention in public places.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stresses on the Emirati traveler the necessity of booking tickets directly to the destination.

The ministry also stresses the need to arrive at the airport at least three hours before the departure time, and to verify travel information at least one day before the flight time, in order to avoid any delay.

In order to ensure the safety of the citizens of the country while they are abroad, the Ministry urges the Emirati traveler to register in “My presence” by visiting the Emirati traveler’s page on the website www.mofaic.gov.ae or the UAEMOFAIC smart application, and it also confirms that all its citizens who are abroad Do not hesitate to call the number 0097180024 in the event of any emergency.
