"The interlocutors touched upon issues related to the aggression undertaken by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia and overcoming the current situation," the press service of the Armenian government quoted TASS as saying.
The parties stressed the need to maintain peace and stability in the region.
On the night of September 13, the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported that the Azerbaijani military was shelling the country's territory with artillery and using drones.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry also reported a clash on the border with Armenia.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, in turn, accused the Armenian side of "large-scale sabotage in the Dashkesan, Kalbajar and Lachin directions", which resulted in "losses among personnel and damage to military infrastructure."
