On the 9th of this month, the government decided to continue the subsidy provided to oil wholesalers until the end of the year to suppress the rise in fuel prices such as gasoline as an additional measure against soaring prices.

Initially, we planned to reduce the upper limit of the subsidy, which was set at 35 yen per liter, in stages, but we decided to keep it unchanged due to the recent depreciation of the yen against the dollar.

Regarding this, Minister Nishimura said, ``Amid the ongoing rise in prices, we have decided to continue until the end of the year from the perspective of minimizing the impact on people's lives, industry, and economic activities.'' Considering the impact on people's lives, etc. and decided to continue the system.

On top of that, he said, ``We would like to carefully consider the upper limit price while carefully considering trends in crude oil prices and the purpose of temporary and emergency evacuation projects.'' Based on the fact that expenditures from the national budget are expected, he indicated that he would continue to consider revising the upper limit of the subsidy while monitoring trends in crude oil prices.
