Ibrahim Al Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations Department at Dubai Customs, said that the two seizures confirm that Dubai Customs has a pioneering system in customs inspection, explaining that the inspectors were performing their routine work in facilitating and simplifying customs procedures, and monitoring the movement of passengers traveling and arriving, so the high sense of security led them to Suspicion of a passenger’s bag, and after viewing it on the X-ray machines, densities were detected in the form of bag ends and scattered belts in the sides of the bag, and after examination, it was found that they were gold ingots that were painted in another color to camouflage.

He added that by checking the inspections, Dubai Customs officers discovered bars that were hidden in the same way in the bag of another passenger on the same flight, so the inspector communicated with the departments supporting the inspections, to ensure that the necessary procedures were followed, explaining that all necessary legal measures were taken towards the seizures and the accused.

Al-Kamali stressed the department's keenness to enroll customs officers in specialized and innovative training courses in body language and types of drugs, in addition to investing in advanced detection devices, noting that smuggling methods vary according to the type of smuggled material, the size of the shipment and the means of transport, with regard to goods.

He added that with regard to travelers, the matter depends on the nature of the smuggled material, as travelers resort to various new tricks, including hiding at the bottom of large bags, creating secret pockets for them, hand bags, and in wrapped boxes, noting that some are trying to take advantage of the facilities and quick customs procedures. , with miserable attempts to smuggle drugs, gold and precious stones, but these attempts are destined to fail at the hands of a cadre of competent inspectors, and with the support of advanced devices and systems.
