The evening dedicated to entertainment for the patrons of a local Vietnamese karaoke has turned into hell.

At least twelve have died and over 11 have been injured in a fire that has developed within the exercise, located in Binh Duong, near Ho Chi Minh.

The causes of the fire are still to be clarified while the rescue teams "are on the spot looking for the victims", as reported by the local official.

The tragedy occurred around 9 pm local time: the flames destroyed the second and third floors of a four-level building.

The fire spread rapidly, causing many employees and customers to be trapped within the 400 square meter area.

It took firefighters 40 minutes to put out the flames.

The fire trapped customers and staff inside.

"Many people fled through the main entrance, but many others jumped out of the building breaking their legs and hands," said a witness interviewed by a Vietnamese newspaper.

From a first reconstruction the security door was blocked and four people chose to jump from the second floor to escape.

It is not the first time that such a serious fire has occurred inside a residential building in Ho Chi Minh: similar events occurred already in 2018, with 13 deaths and in 2016 always in a karaoke bar in the capital Hanoi.
