In order to ensure the safety of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in the southeastern part of Ukraine, a team of experts from the IAEA = International Atomic Energy Agency will start investigating the nuclear power plant on the 1st and is expected to continue until the 3rd.

On the other hand, President Zelensky criticized that the Russian side did not allow independent media to accompany him, and the focus is on whether the investigation can proceed smoothly as the nuclear power plant and surrounding areas are being bombarded every day.

At the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine, which is controlled by the Russian military, a series of shelling has damaged some facilities, raising concerns that it could lead to a serious accident.

A team of IAEA experts led by Director-General Grossi, who entered Ukraine with the aim of ensuring safety, arrived at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant on the 1st and began an investigation.

Director-General Grossi said in a meeting with nuclear power plant administrators, "Preventing a nuclear accident is our primary objective, and we will do everything possible to find consensus among all parties involved."

According to Ukrainian nuclear power company Energoatom and others, Director General Grossi and some IAEA experts will leave the nuclear power plant after staying for several hours, and the remaining experts will conduct an investigation until the 3rd.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused the Russian side of trying to deceive a team of experts and did not allow independent media to accompany the investigation on Monday. He reiterated the importance of demilitarizing nuclear power plants and transferring them completely under Ukrainian control.

The nuclear plant and surrounding areas are believed to have been bombarded and battled one day at a time, and "Energoatom" has revealed that one of the two reactors in operation has stopped due to the attack by the Russian military. As the situation continues, the focus is on whether the investigation can proceed smoothly.
