And it is that this question already makes no sense from the moment in which, for example, the forty years now are not the same as before.

The concept of reinvention is always possible and, although it is true that it is linked to that of instability, it is also true that it gives unprecedented freedom.

Studies no longer lead the way.

This path marks each one, in that search for happiness that is built every day.

An original and fresh documentary that gives a voice to the digital native

'Nomads' is a documentary directed by actress Ingrid García-Jonsson along with director Dionisio Naranjo, who gives voice to 17 young digital natives.

In this piece, the tandem (with García-Jonsson in the foreground) paints a generational portrait of the current situation of young people, digital natives or not, who have had the opportunity to use new technologies to make the world their own office, so that any country is their home and so that, the least expected day, they can turn their professional life around.

'The future is more uncertain because now there are many open paths', is heard in a certain fragment of the documentary.

And it is that new professions have emerged, and a large part of them do not require the worker to be in a certain place, fulfilling a fixed working schedule.

Nomadism is increasingly integrated into the minds of digital natives because everything is constantly changing: the idea of family, gender, sex, relationships.

What is stability? Is it as necessary as our parents sold it to us? Do we want a job, a marriage, a home for life or, on the contrary, are we more seduced by what has already been heard so often, such as ' Live the present'?

Perhaps the documentary 'Nomads' does not have the definitive answer to these questions (who does?) but it serves as a valuable document of the present, which is no small thing.

García-Jonsson herself, being an actress, feels like a nomad.

And not so much because of her filming but because of the very concept of current life in which everything seems so volatile and changing.

In fact, 'Nomads' is her first work as her director, and the vital anguish that this produces in her is translated into images in the documentary itself, serving her (and serving us, in passing) as emotional therapy.

A reflection in which young people (and not so much) can look at each other

The characters she interviews could be her, protagonists of a life in which crises should be taken as second chances and never as a breeding ground for anxiety and fear.

"It has been an incredible experience, I really wanted to direct and this has been a great opportunity. It is very enriching to be on the other side of the camera and to be part of the team that makes the decisions. It is also very enriching to chat with interesting people and exchange points of view about the issues that concern us in our day to day."

These words are from García-Jonsson herself who, with 'Nómadas', faces her first challenge as a director.

And it is a job that touches him closely: "Of course, I am a person who lives with daily uncertainty. It has come to me with the profession that I chose and it is also something that comes included with the times. Everything lasts less and we live faster. It seems more complicated to me not to be a nomad than to be."

Any place can be an office

One of the protagonists of 'Nómadas' is the professional photographer Kike Arnáiz.

"I feel very lucky to be able to get up every day in a different place, that keeps me active and alert, with a young spirit and in continuous learning."

This is, for Arnáiz, one of the advantages of being a nomad.

He agrees with the rest of the participants: all of them, to a greater or lesser extent, are allergic to routines and have assumed the lack of certainty as the opportunity to have different professional opportunities.

'Nomads' transcends by trying to give a voice to those who glimpse a totally uncertain future in a fresh and entertaining way.

That the director herself feels nomadic accentuates her personal and original spirit, which always takes into account constructive criticism and a positive point of view.

The young people who appear have their own vision of what it is to be a nomad.

Some see their situation with a better face.

Others have no choice.

But no one feels victimized.

All of them form a uniform portrait of the nomads of the 21st century, an accurate casting that helps to understand the passions and fears of digital natives.
