On Thursday, September 1, several laws that strengthen consumer protection come into force.

- We have to adapt the legislation to our new way of shopping digitally, says Maria Wiezell, consumer legal expert at Sweden's Consumers.

Among other things, there will be a stop to so-called scam sales, where companies raise the prices of goods just before the sale to make the discount look bigger than it really is.

It should also become clearer to consumers who is selling a product.

Some platforms on digital commerce sell goods where it is unclear who the consumer is buying from.

Something that can add to it if, for example, you want to advertise a product or want to know which country you are shopping from.
