“Today, the Kyiv City Council has renamed 95 streets, lanes and squares, the names of which are associated with Russia and the Soviet past,” he wrote in his Telegram.

Klitschko noted that the new street names "are designed to perpetuate the memory of Ukraine's defining historical events."

In addition, the new street names will be associated with figures and heroes who glorified Ukraine.

For example, according to the information of the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Marshal Malinovsky Street was named the Street of the Heroes of the Azov Regiment*, and Piterskaya Street was renamed Londonskaya Street.

Klitschko also informed that the process of renaming the streets of Kyiv has not yet been completed.

Earlier, the deputy head of Odessa, Pavel Vugelman, announced the decision to “derussify” more than 200 streets of the city, renaming them in honor of famous composers or sister cities.

* "Azov" - the organization was recognized as a terrorist organization by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of 08/02/2022.
