Good evening,

everything is finite, but the thought that it could also be the case with water is particularly frightening.

Experts give the all-clear for the Rhine-Main area, albeit a limited one.

We look at why Samson is moving away from Frankfurt and explain why a Ukrainian children's book is being published by a Frankfurt publisher: an overview of news from the region.

Department head of the Rhein-Main editorial team of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

  • Follow I follow

Water from above and water in the ground

: The plants wither, but there is enough drinking water for the time being.

Roughly summarized, this is how agricultural meteorologists and the working group of water suppliers in the Rhine-Main area assess the current situation.

In a study examining how climate change is affecting the groundwater balance in the Hessisches Ried, Hessischer Untermain and Wetterau with the Unteren Vogelsberg extraction areas, a date is also given by which a basic security of supply should be guaranteed.

Bernhard Biener reports.

Leaving Frankfurt:

"We move the valves across our factory premises, chase them through elevators and create bottlenecks in all sorts of places, which we can no longer afford in view of global competition." Says Andreas Widl, CEO of the valve manufacturer Samson AG, which has its headquarters in Frankfurt.

Still.

The company will relocate because it can no longer grow on the factory premises as is necessary for profitable production.

There are more reasons for the move, which also involves risks, as Daniel Schleidt reports.

Incidentally, the city of Offenbach can be happy, it will be the new company headquarters.

A consolation not only for children

: the book is called “Najmoisha Mama”, it is written for children, in Ukrainian.

However, it is published by a German publisher, Moritz in Frankfurt, and is intended for the German book market.

That sounds unusual and it is, as does the story behind the book.

It begins on the day Russia attacks Ukraine;

The main characters are the author Anna Tyurina and the publisher Markus Weber with the initiative “Adopt an Ukrainian Children's Book”.

Nicole Nadine Seliger tells this story.

And

Hesse is also increasing its budget for German courses, including for war refugees from Ukraine, by one million euros to 4.7 million +++ the Frankfurt University Hospital is facing a warning strike on Thursday and Friday, if negotiations on relief in the sense of the Verdi union, which demands, among other things, compliance with staff ratios +++ the construction of the new Schiersteiner bridge on the 643 motorway between Wiesbaden and Mainz will probably cost around 250 million euros instead of the 216 million calculated in 2013.

Warm greetings from the editorial team
