Sampling shows – no crayfish plague in the Bureälven

Dives have been carried out at two places in the Skellefteälven to take inventory of the crayfish population.

The result showed that there were only dead crayfish in the Skellefteälven, but live crayfish were also found in a side water.  

- We found a live crayfish at the bottom of a tributary that flows into the river.

We believe that the crayfish seem to survive in these tributaries may have a significant impact on the regrowth of the crayfish in the Skellefteälven, says Tony Söderlund, fisheries consultant for Skellefteå municipality.
