Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense has argued that the military exercises announced by China are a violation of its sovereignty.

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense spokesman Sun Lipang said in an online press conference that China's military exercises scheduled to be conducted in six waters around Taiwan from today (4th) to 7th are attempts to block Taiwan.

"China's drills are a violation of Taiwan's sovereignty and international law," Sun said.

One of the six sites disclosed by the Chinese side was found to be less than 20 km from the Kaohsiung coast of Taiwan and within 22 km of the territorial sea standard under international law.
