The Minister of the Interior is going to Lyon on Saturday to inaugurate a CRA with 140 places.

The second of which he announced the opening will be carried out in six months by the renovation of the old establishment, currently closed.

This decision "will make it possible to double the reception capacity of foreigners in detention", underlined Mr. Darmanin.

"We don't have enough places in the detention center and that's also the purpose of my visit".

The Minister specified that "200 new border police officers will be assigned to it", "it will be a very important effort".

Gérald Darmanin also affirmed that "35% of acts of delinquency are committed in the Lyon metropolitan area by foreigners".

During his visit to Lyon on Saturday, the minister is due to meet police officers recently attacked in the Guillotière district.

After this incident, Mr. Darmanin had implicated a foreign suspect in an irregular situation, finally exonerated, but promised that he would be expelled anyway.

The minister announced on Tuesday the presentation "at the start of the school year in September" of a law to lift "all legislative reservations" preventing the expulsion of foreign offenders from the territory.

To strengthen the fight against crime in Lyon and more particularly in this district, Gérald Darmanin also indicated in his interview with Le Progrès the arrival of a second CRS company, i.e. 70 people, who will remain permanently in the agglomeration. .
